A little bit of history ... The Legend of Saint
Ulphe Frogs don't croak in Boves swamp anylonger… In fact, they have stopped croaking since the 8th
century. Ulphe, a young
lady devoted to God used to go to mass everyday in Saint Acheul church
at Amiens. She went there with Domice, an old hermit. One night the
frogs were so noisy that Ulphe couldn't sleep but she finally fell
asleep at dawn and missed mass . Frustrated and angry, she begged God to silence the frogs in Boves swamp which happened. Come over here to experience this legend in Picardy... in Amiens at the Saint Firmin's portal to the cathedral. |
